WHY I paint a subject...


This photo from my plein air painting today illustrates the WHY quite well....Metaphors often come to my mind.

The weathered old cabin is a tangible subject for the passage of time. These old buildings won't be around forever - as you see from the remnants beside the cabin.

And, I enjoyed how the distant mountains echoed in the curve of the sagging roof. After all, we are all shaped by our surroundings...

The colors certainly were 'calling my name' as well. I loved the cool distant mountains with the warm wood of the cabin.
